I just returned from an extended trip to NYC during the month of December. Definitely buzz worthy was Atlanta’s own, Radcliffe Bailey at the Jack Shainman Gallery in Chelsea. Rad’s show was nearly sold out at the opening. Kudos is due you, Radcliffe, for your enduring creativity. Best wishes for your continued success! Also exciting was Kehinde Wiley’s show in SoHo (four paintings, each the size of a garage door!), Lamar Peterson’s solo in Chelsea and, of course, the highly anticipated Frequency show at the Studio Museum of Harlem. If you missed any of these events, take note of the following notable happenings outside of Atlanta.
Upcoming Gordon Parks exhibition (NYC - late January) / Conclusion of Thornton Dial in the 21st Century (MFA Houston) / Continuation of Basquiat traveling show (MFA Houston – January 7th) / Annual National Black Fine Art Show NYC - February 2 – 5)
Make sure you visit Frequency and catch an early glimpse of emerging art world talents (ongoing thru March 12th) |
