What am I reading? “The Collected Essays of Adrian Piper: 1962-1998.”  You might consider most recent issue of The International Review of African American Art (Vol. 20, No. 2) published by the Hampton University Museum.  Its cover feature on “Defining the New Aesthetics” gives great consideration of the movement in artistic expression by artists of the African Diaspora beyond that of identity and more into exploration of universal themes, which by definition reflect their intrinsic sense of culture and inextricable heritage.
